It does and the module is called Pathauto.
Why would anyone EVER want a url that is not SEO-friendly? I understand that it is likely reflecting a (now outdated?) path of development. But not only are SEO-unfriendly URLs bad for SEO, they make page-view statistics-tracking a complete nightmare. Am wondering. Most other CMS’s provide this out-of-the-box.
That said, I’ve worked on custom CMS codebases that had NO option for this. Argh.
UPDATE (90 seconds later): Now I get it. bc. http://drupal.linkingarts.com/node/3/ is much better for Twitter posts than bc. http://drupal.linkingarts.com/content/drupal-requires-module-seo-friendly-urls ! Drupal developers actually have their OWN TIME MACHINE! Oh, to get my hands on that.
